About Star Plumbing Co. LLC — Fort Collins, CO
We're a small plumbing company based in Fort Collins. We do the work ourselves, we explain what we find, and we give you a written estimate before anything gets started. That's the whole deal.
Our Story
Why We Started Star Plumbing Co. LLC
Honestly, it came down to frustration. Not with plumbing — we genuinely like this work. The frustration was with how a lot of plumbing work gets done around here. Vague quotes over the phone. Diagnoses that turn out to be wrong. Repairs that hold up just long enough to get a payment, then fail again six months later.
We believe people deserve straight answers. When you call a plumber, you're usually dealing with something stressful — a backed-up drain, a water heater that quit, a septic system that needs serious attention. The last thing you need is someone talking around the problem or surprising you with a number that wasn't in the original conversation.
So we built our approach around a few simple ideas. Show up when we say we will. Look at the problem in person. Tell you what we actually found, in plain language. Put the price in writing before we touch anything. Those things shouldn't be unusual, but in our experience, they often are.
We're not the biggest plumbing company in Northern Colorado. We don't try to be. What we do is keep our team small enough that an experienced plumber shows up to every job — not a helper who's three months in.
What We Do
Our Plumbing Specialties in Northern Colorado
We handle a wide range of plumbing work across Fort Collins and the surrounding region. A few areas where we spend most of our time:
Septic System Install & Replacement
A lot of properties in Larimer County run on septic. We know the permit process, we understand the soil conditions out here, and we've handled everything from new installs on raw land to full replacements on older properties. The permitting side alone can trip people up — we walk you through it.
Learn more →Septic System Repair
Not every septic issue means a full replacement. Sometimes it's a distribution box, a baffle, a broken line. We diagnose before we recommend, and we're not going to tell you to replace a system that can be repaired. That's just honest work.
Learn more →Well Pumps
Rural Northern Colorado has a lot of private wells — out in Laporte, Red Feather Lakes, and beyond. We install and service well pump systems and understand what it means when your water pressure drops or the pump cycles constantly. It's a specific kind of plumbing work, and we're comfortable with it.
Learn more →Water Heater Install & Repair
Standard tank heaters, tankless units, hybrid heat pump models — we install and service them all. If yours is struggling, we'll tell you honestly whether it makes more sense to repair or replace. Sometimes the answer is a repair. Sometimes it's not worth the money.
Learn more →General Plumbing
Fixture replacements, re-piping, leak repairs, supply line work — the everyday plumbing that keeps a home running. We work on older homes with cast iron and galvanized, and on newer builds with PEX. Both have their quirks. We know what to look for in each.
Learn more →Drain Cleaning
Slow drains and backups are frustrating. We clear them out and, when it makes sense, we tell you whether what we found points to a deeper problem. You shouldn't need to call us every six months for the same drain.
Learn more →Sewer & Water Main
Main line problems are usually the ones people dread most. They're disruptive and can be expensive. We assess the situation carefully, give you a clear picture of your options, and let you decide how you want to proceed.

How We Handle Every Job
We try to keep things simple and predictable. Here's what working with us usually looks like:
Written Estimate Before Any Work
We put the price in writing before we start. No verbal agreements, no surprise totals when the job is done. You know what you're agreeing to — and you can ask questions before you say yes.
A Two-Hour Arrival Window
We give you a two-hour arrival window and we stick to it. We'll confirm the day before and reach out if anything changes. Your time matters. We don't treat it like it doesn't.
Plain-English Diagnosis
We explain what we found in terms that make sense to someone who isn't a plumber. You shouldn't have to nod along and hope for the best. If something's unclear, ask — we'll keep explaining until it clicks.
No Upsells or Pressure
We're not going to walk around your house looking for other things to fix. We're here for the job you called us about. If we notice something genuinely worth flagging, we'll mention it — but you'll never feel like we're pitching you.
Experienced Plumbers on Every Job
Because our team is small, an experienced plumber shows up every time. Not an apprentice on their second week. Not someone who needs to call someone else to figure out what they're looking at. The person at your door knows what they're doing.
Local Knowledge
Why It Helps to Know Fort Collins Specifically
Plumbing isn't just plumbing. The local context shapes what problems you typically see and how to solve them well.
Old Town Cast Iron vs. Newer PEX Construction
Fort Collins has a wide mix of building stock. Older homes in and around Old Town often have cast iron drain lines that are decades old. They corrode, they crack, and they behave differently than modern PEX systems. Knowing which you're dealing with before you start changes how you approach the work — and knowing the history of both helps you give better advice about what's worth doing now versus later.
Larimer County Permits and Septic Regulations
Larimer County has its own permitting requirements for septic systems — and those requirements matter when you're doing an install or major repair. We're familiar with the process and what inspectors typically look for. That saves you time and avoids costly surprises partway through a project.
Northern Colorado Soils and Drain Field Performance
Soil conditions vary across the region. The clay-heavy soils common in parts of the Front Range absorb water differently than the sandy soils you find further out. That affects how septic drain fields perform over time and what design works best for a given property. It's the kind of thing you pick up working in this area for years.
The Cache la Poudre Watershed and Water Quality
Fort Collins sits in the Cache la Poudre watershed. For homeowners with private wells, that has real implications for water quality and what kinds of treatment or filtration might be relevant. It's useful background knowledge when someone calls us with water pressure issues or wants to understand their well system better.
Rural Properties: Laporte, Red Feather Lakes, and Beyond
Properties in Laporte, Red Feather Lakes, and the rural areas west of Fort Collins often rely on both well pumps and septic systems. That combination requires a plumber who's comfortable with both sides of the equation. We work on rural properties regularly and understand what those systems look like when they're running well — and what signs suggest something's off.
Windsor, Loveland, Berthoud, and the Broader Service Area
We regularly work in Loveland, Wellington, Windsor, Greeley, Estes Park, and Berthoud. Each community has its own mix of housing ages and infrastructure. We're not parachuting into unfamiliar territory when we drive out to those areas — we know the region.
Why Customers Trust Us
What You Can Expect From Star Plumbing Co. LLC
We're not going to list out awards. We're going to tell you the things that matter when you're deciding who to call.
Licensed & Insured in Colorado
We're fully licensed and carry insurance. That protects you if anything unexpected happens during a job. It's basic — but it's worth saying.
Written Estimates Every Time
Before any work starts, you get a written estimate. Not a ballpark. Not "somewhere in that range." A number you can hold us to.
We Answer the Phone
When you call, a real person picks up. We don't route you through a phone tree. We don't call you back three days later when the emergency has already caused more damage.
We Come Back If Something's Wrong
If a repair we did fails or doesn't hold up the way it should, we come back to make it right. We stand behind our work. That's not a policy — it's just how we think a business should operate.
Small Team, High Standards
We don't have layers of management between you and the people doing the work. The plumbers on our team have real experience and take the work seriously. That shows up in the quality of what gets done.
Based in Fort Collins
We're local. We live and work in Northern Colorado. We're not a franchise or a remote call center dispatching subcontractors. When you call us, you're calling neighbors.
Ready to Talk? We're Easy to Reach.
Give us a call and tell us what's going on. We'll ask a few questions, schedule a visit, and bring a written estimate to the job. No pressure, no runaround.
